HOW is your Air Conditionar?
ORIGINAL: mrbmp
The AC system has the same amount of cooling capacity whether it is on max or norm, the only difference is where it gets its incoming air from.

After its cooled off in the car MAX will get you a lower temp from the vents. but after its cooled off in the car your ready to turn it down anyway.
And I believe that running on MAX as keeps the compressor running all the time, where Normal setting it cycles. Or its the opposite, or this was with only slightly older cars.
Right Ricva, I was hoping to be the first to remark on that.
Prof do you have heat coming through the tranny hump?
I would expect your A/C to not perform as well as a normal car due to the fact that lots of us report heat coming from there, along with the fact that not only is your top black, which will keep you warmer, but the insulation won't be as good as a hard top. My coupe needs the A/C on normal, full cold position with the fan on 1 when I drive in the sun with the windows up (to keep the smog and noise out). When I get into the Valley I find I need to have it on 2 to maintain the coolness. As far as collong on when first getting in? Yeah, it'll take longer than normal. Just make sure it's on recirculate, or does MAX do that anyway?

Prof Wiz, you arent running wide open all the time are you?

Ford has never used the AC temp control to cycle the compressor, they regulate the temp by mixing hot and cold air.
.
Seldom use the AC... car stays in the garage with the top down till I wanna drive it.. then it likely *keeps* the top down wherever I go... a few times the Arkansas sun has gotten too ugly and I have put the top up and turned the AC on... I have had NO problems thus far... except for the rednecks in their trucks and such wanting to park too close...
