why not buy remote starter and have it fairly cool when you step in the car
Most here probably have a manual trans.
I have a manual trans, but I also have a remote starter. Ultra Start makes the only remote starter that is compatible with manual tranmissions. It works great for me and has the car nice and cool when I get in.

How do they keep it from starting in gear?

You have to follow a particular shut down procedure so that it is ready to remote start. If you don't follow the procedure you can't remote start it.

1. Put in neutral
2. Pull up e-brake
3. Pump brakes twice
4. Turn off ignition (engine will still run)
5. Open door and get out
6. Engine will turn off when the last door is closed

After this it is in what they call "reservation mode" and will remote start the next time you push the start button on the remote. This makes sure that the car is out of gear (otherwise, it would be rolling down the street). If you try and trick the system by opening and closing the door again, it is no longer in "reservation mode".

I may have to look into that. I hadn't heard of remote starters for manuals. Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm pretty happy with mine. It's 2-way so it let's me know when the car has started. It's great so that you can have a confirmation that it is started even if you can't see the car. The web site for them is www.ultrastarters.com

If I remember correctly, it was about $450 installed for the starter. The 2-way version I gbought had both the starter and an alarm with impact sensor.

Mine gets the car cold as hell real quick - I would have it checked out dude......saying that I live in England and its not exactly 'tropical' weather here so maybe you are best off getting feedback from guys in Texas/Florida, etc....

OK... Lemme see..

Remote Start - - Yes.. I have it and I use it.

MAX - well. yes in that if it above 98 degrees I have to in order to keep the car livably confortable. The air comeing out of the vents is "slightly cool" and nothing more. The air that came out of my BMW Convertible vents would keep a beer cold!

Recirulate - - true... I was using that.. but not any more... it helped a tiny bit.

So... My assumption is the AC goes on my "Check this out" list I have started.
