If there is a year not to buy it's 2011 not 2010. The driveline will be all new. 2012 or even 2013 will be the year to purchase.

It is a known fact that the first year of new cars always have issues. Issues that are addressed and remedied the following years...

With the exception of my center console latch..I have had zero issues with this car. A scratch was on the steering wheel trim and it was replaced but that was obviously from someone and not a factory defect. It was replaced along with the center console latch and no more issues

1) I would agree that the first year of new cars generally have issues, but that's not an absolute and there are other aspects to a new model. In the case of the 2010, it is a reskin but remains an S197. This isn't "All New" by any stretch - the chassis, engine, and transmission are near clones of the last body. In terms of electronics, Sync has been in Fords since the 2007 model year.

2) Ford quality has improved dramatically in the past 3 years. Fusion, Flex, Escape, Mustang, etc. have all received very high marks by CR.

3) Some minor issues is a small price to pay for having a new body style one year longer. The car will look newer for a greater percentage of ownership vs a car purchased toward the end of a run.

4) The 2011 will, in all likelihood, have a completely new engine (and possibly transmission).

5) If we waited for everything to be perfect, we'd be dead before pulling the trigger.
