Ford to match GM's discount plan

RE: Ford to match GM's discount plan
From another article:
"Ford's only hot-selling car, the all-new Mustang, will not be included in the "Family Plan" program, Reuter said. Gas-electric hybrid versions of its Escape sport utility vehicle are also excluded."
They consider the V-6 a HOT selling car? What do you think they call the GT? The big dealer here in LA had over 70 V-6s and only 3 GTs on the lot. Maybe more people like Saleen or Rousch decided to buy V-6s and through in the cammer 5.0 engine...

RE: Ford to match GM's discount plan
I recieved A plan on the my 05 GT that I am picking up tomorrow. The catch? They had a customer order it who could not pay for it. This customer also demanded that they paint stripes on instead of normal sticker type stripes. This cost $2000. They told me I could have the car for A plan if I paid for the stripes. I couldn't fill out the credit app. fast enough!

ORIGINAL: 05BlueGT
But why would the GTO sales go up 141 percent? They sold just 1 GTO a month ago and now they sold 141?

RE: Ford to match GM's discount plan
Just my 2 cents. If Ford doesn't discount the Mustang it just makes our cars more desirable. And why should they? They sell evey one they make without discounting. I do NOT agree with dealers marking them over MSRP though. That's just gouging. At any rate the Mustang is and always has been about value in a fun car that looks good and is fun to drive. The Mustang is reasonably proced as it is. Another way too look at it is if you price it too cheap people will think it's no good. Also if it's priced too low you can bet the bean couters at Ford will turn the screws to start cutting corners on quality and features. Personally I'd rather pay a little more and get a well put together car. I've only had my GT for a little under two weeks and I've gone over it very carefully and it is extremely well put together. I want Ford to keep building them that way.
