Default Switching intakes, do i need a retune?

Alright guys right now i have the granatelli motorsports intake, which is exactly like the C&L street (i put side by side with one). Some one i know is selling their C&L racer for cheap, so i wanted to buy theirs and swap mine out. I don't want my polished intake anymore because its a PITA to keep it clean with the hood i have. Water and soap always drip in there and make nasty spots.

My question is, would i need a retune since there is more air coming in? Or can i just run it with the tune i have right now just fine?

If the diameter (in mm) is the same then you shouldn't need a new tune. But I'd check with whomever your tuner is to be sure.

Im pretty sure the racer is a little bit bigger diameter, so i probably would need a tune then. I really want the black tube because im tired of all the soap and water spots!

I asked Jared from Lethal Performance the same question (about two different intakes), and he said that if there is a change in size then you need a retune!

Do you have a canned or email tune now? If you have a canned tune, you should have the option of changing the intake setting on the tuner itself, at least diablo does this so I assume SCT does as well. If you have an email tune, have your tuner give you a new tune.

I already bought the C&L Racer intake used from someone and I currently had the granatelli , which is exactly like the C&L street (side to side comparison with friends). The Racer did not have the air sensor that screws on the side, any idea where to get an extra one? I got a brenspeed tune so I called them and they said it would be $35 for a new tune, but only 1 so if I ever get wrong gas I would be screwed!

You should be able to use the maf sensor from the Granatelli intake, if you did'nt keep the stock sensor from your stock intake. And since you say the new intake is the same size as the granatelli, that maf sensor will be calibrated correctly for air and fuel and you can run the car without a tune if you want or need to.
