Default Tire Help

I found a wheel I would like to get, the only thing I have to check on is how much it costs, and if I can get it widened and how much the total thing will cost. The only problem it is a 17" wheel, and I can't find any wide tires.

I can get a 315/35/17, but that is like 2" shorter than the current 27" tire height of our cars. I don't know what this would look like, and there will be a big gap I'm sure, which means I'd have to lower the car, but what do you guys think?

Anyone know of a street tire that is wide, but has the tire height we are looking for in a 17" fit?

Thanks,
Menace.

From a quick search on tirerack, the only 315's I found in a 17" tire are 70 series and those were highay A/S and A/T truck tires. Keep looking.

What size wheels (including offset) are you looking at? You're more likely to find some decent 17" tires in 285 and 295 series.

Well nitto makes the NT05's & 555's in a 315/35/17

which would also explain why they wernt on tirerack

Why are you willing to go with such low profile tire just to have a wide wheel?

You do realize that this Nitto will pose no traction advantages over a properly setup 27" tire, right? In the 17" size with 27" diameter there are some awesome R-comp tires which have 300 tread wear which I can guarantee will beat any non-R-comps that are up to whatever size exists for grip.
If you're looking just for looks though:

The only proper 27" Tire setup for a 17" rim is a 255 series, as far as I can find. Maybe 275 but that's the largest. I'd like to go atleast 285, 295, but I can't find anything.

http://www.wheelsforless.com/images/are/109close.jpg A link to the wheel I am referring to. Not sure if it comes in the proper format for our cars, because it's made for older cars... but the design is way better than our versions of the same wheel. Dunno why they just don't make this fit for us from the get-go.

What would a 17" wheel with 0 offset, and 4.50 backspacing look on our car anyway?
