Call me crazy, but I seem to remember My Mach stereo system in my '04 GT being a little better than the stereo in this 2010.

Anybody else had both generations, and what do you think?

I'm not complaining, its good enough for me. Just curious.

It is the rear deck I want to see a write up on. The rear deck in these is supposed to be a pain.

Yeah, everyone keeps saying the rear deck is tougher.

FYI, Crutchfield sells these speaker harnesses for a very clean install.

I just recently sold an 04 with a mach 460 and the sound to
me is about the same. What makes this stereo much better
is the ablity to plug my iPhone in and control all it's functions
through the stereo or voice commands. I think changing the
speakers would help, something I might look into in the future

I ended up buying these same speakers. The price was right, not too cheap and not too expensive, and they had good reviews. I've also been happy with Alpine products in the past.

I installed 4 Alpine SPS-507's and it is a huge improvement. They were about $120 off ebay and about 3 hours to install.
No more harsh highs and buzzy mids, I would highly recommend upgrading the crappy stock speakers.

If you buy the speakers through crutchfield, they include these for free.
