Default What's the easiest way to clean the engine?

Just wanted to know what is the easiest way to clean the engine without damaging any of the electrical components. Can I just use the spray washer at the car wash to get all the loose dirt out or what?

I am with you. I opened up the hood to clean the egine with a rag and it looks like someone dumped sand all over it. Terrible looking. I just washed and waxed the car so I do not want to hose the engine off just yet.

I would think general cleaner and a low pressure hose would be safe enough. Follow that up with an air hose to blow the water off and then start and warm things up until dry.

Check this out. Works like a charm. I used engine detailer rather than wd-40.

That looks great! I will be down to Advance Auto for some of that engine detailer. I do not know why the thing is so dirty. I popped the hood on my other 2 old vehicles and they look a lot better! I might try the engine detailer on the motorcycle as well. It is lookin kinda sad these days.

Remember to use the Gunk degreaser or some Simple Green, etc. first to get the dirt off, then use the detailer. Super easy and looks great. I got into all the tight spots with a long skinny paint brush and wiped everything down again once I was done. Only took me an hour from start to finish and most of that was waiting.

looks pretty good! I just wipe down the engine bay every time I clean the car. a microfiber cloth that's got a little armor all on it works good. if you clean it every time you clean the rest of the car it doesn't get bad to the point of being a lot of work.

Every time I wash the Stang I wipe the engine bay down. Since day one. The engine never gets grimey. Other than the nooks and crannies that need cleaning with a Q-Tip (which lost me and the g/f's V6 1 point each at the last car show), it's all been good. My SUV doesn't get the TLC the Stang does so I'll hit it with the pressure washer from time to time. Just be sure to cover the intake and not hit anything full force (my PW is rated 2500 PSI).

Nuke, when you say intake, do you mean the cai? Or the manifold intake?
