Trouble already

Grandparents had the same issue with a Fusion. Took it in and it was a sensor (forget what it was, exactly).
If you rev it to 3k or so, it may reproduce. Try putting it in neutral when driving and rev match back to gear a few times. That might help in replicating the issue.

After spending some time under the hood relaxing and retightening some hoseclamps and connections leading up the the motor the problem seems remedied. I didn't find anything obviously wrong so I'm no help there but I have put about 100 miles on it through 4 or 5 heat cycles and no trouble so far. On a brighter note I threw the Bassani axle-back on today I've had sitting around while trying to figure this out and the car sounds great. Definitely a step in the right direction. Thanks for the interest everyone.
I'm still mad FOR you though - I do wish when a dealership just didn't KNOW, they wouldn't try to sell a load of total b.s. to people.... Had a mid-90's Taurus with a Six in it once - and kept tearing out motor mounts. Went through two sets and needed a THIRD. When you put the car in gear, you could watch the motor RISE UP and SLAM DOWN... and y'know what the dealership told me...
Get this.
"These six cylinders just have SO MUCH POWER and TORQUE the motor mounts won't hold."
I wish I'd had my duck waders on that day, the crap was so deep.
