Another question for you guys,
Ive got some bbk tuned length headers awaiting install and currently i have the stock manifolds+Hpipe with no mufflers as all (nothing after the h)
It sounds good but occasionally the h pipe will hit if i go over a bump plus it looks awfully funny with no tips coming out of the bumper so i need to get something done.
I have been considering the BBK shorties+Stock H+Boom Tubes. I was estimating i may gain ~10 HP from this but shave a little weight off since those stock mufflers are heavy. Im also thinking about the BBK shorties+Off road H/X+Stock mufflers. I would gain more power this way due to no cats i believe but i dont know how much. Id like to shave weight off my car as much as i can but power is equally important. What do you guys think the best bet is?

Also, how hard is swapping out the H pipe? Emissions requires them but if its a hour or two job i could just swap back to stock once a year?

Honestly, either exhaust set-up you go with is not going to yield that much more power over the other. And the factory mufflers are heavy, but the weight difference between them and the boomtubes is not enough you would EVER notice when driving the car. And no matter how much you change the exhaust (especially without a tune), you are not going to notice a difference in power. I think alot of people think they feel a difference but they just hear the exhaust and think the car is more powerful. I actually lost a little power with my exhaust set-up, its so straight through. If I got it tuned for the exhaust, there would be a noticeable difference in power.

And yes, I could not drive around with just the h pipe hooked up! Not only is your exhaust not properly supported when doing this, but it does look silly with no tips coming out the back.

I ran this setup for about 3 weeks while I was replacing my GTA's back when I first put the Shorties on. Sounds pretty good, imo. Almost good enough that I wouldn't have minded if the guy who messed up my GTA's didn't pay to replace them and I was stuck like that for a while. It was slightly on the quiet side for me, but the GTA's bump it up to perfect level for what I like. I should try and get some sound clips of the car. I get alot of questions on here about it. Gives a nice throaty sound, without being obnoxious.

So, Bob, you're now running BBK shorties, stock H, and GTA's?

I suppose ill just get the headers in and try out some boom tubes. I know they dont save much weight but every bit counts. Once i get out of school my goal is to get my stang closer to 3000 lbs so why not save some weight with any mods i do now.
Any yes, it looks funny with no tips, and occasionally the pipes hit, but man does it sound sick. Ive had quite a few complements and probably the best part about driving id flooring it in an underpass... Sounds beautiful with all of the resonance.

Heres a vid i made a few minutes ago when leaving work at 4 am... Poor quality when i got close to the car but you can tell its pretty deep sounding.

now that i know my iphone is capable of a decent video as long as im a few feet from the exhaust ill try to get a better video
