2008 Bullitt . . thoughts?
I like mine. Coolest dash of any late model Mustang! The 3.73 gears and carbon diff clutches are another cool feature, and I really like the Highland green. Overall, a pretty nice package for a factory offering. As good as it was from Ford. I felt mine needed a few improvements though... I put on some Vogtland lowering springs along with Koni yellows and new GT500 strut mounts, then some Hotchkis anti-sway bars and adjustable panhard bar. I think the Konis are a must-do mod, as they made the biggest difference of all the suspension stuff. The car is much happier around canyon turns, than it was stock.
Anyway, the Bullitt is a nice package and already had some bits I would have done, but it's still not perfect. It mainly depends on personal preference, and whether you like the plain-wrap look. I do.

315 crank HP (underated IMO...but that's a different argument)
Lowering springs (rear 0.5" only...way stiffer than a GT)
GT 500 Seats (better lower bolstering)
GT 500 Steering Wheel with thumb bolsters
GT 500 8.8 diff with 3.73 Gears
Spoiler Delete
Carbon Fiber front disc pads
FRPP CAI with Dual Fuel Tuning (87 + 91 octane)
18in dark argent wheels with BFG 235/50/18 KDWs tires
Bullitt only H-Pipe meant to reproduce a 390 big block at full throttle
Bullitt Mufflers (with welded on polished SS tips)
Bullit Strut tower brace
Dark Highland Green Paint (only green bullits, black bullits are just normal black)
Metal shifter ****
Metal Dash panel
Brushed (or flat) metal rings around vents and gauges
Bullitt cluster gauges
Bullitt front grill
Bigger Sway Bar
Track Pack - Spare Tire delete, Jack Delete, Air Pump/Tire sealant package added.
Bullitt specific Hood Liner that seals against the FRPP CAI
I've heard rumor that the Bullitt has a GT500 clutch as well. But cannot find any information to prove it. Been looking

The Bullitt is how the GT should have come from the factory...mostly. It's a way better platform in the performance department than any regular GT. It's a shame though that you have to get the $1,000+ leather seats as part of the package. I love those seats...but lets face it, not everybody has the $$$ for them. Should have been optional IMO.
If you can grab a Bullitt, do it. hands down, you are getting a better car for the $$$. A Bullitt is a GT Premium in it's basic configuration. The only additional options are HID, My Lighting Package, Shaker, and/or Nav.
The 1st mods most GT owners do is a CAI & Tune right?
Already done.
Another extremely popular mod is the 3.73 gears.
already done...plus it has the GT500 center section with the better LS unit.

those 2 mods alone are going to run you in excess of $1,000. and they won't be factory options...aka no warranty
sure you can pick up a GT and mod it out to match a Bullitt. But it will cost you. I'm fairly lazy myself. I'd rather buy it pre-made, and then add other goodies as needed.
i think the bullitts are sweet, but i like to cutomize my mustang, this is where some may agree and some may disagree with me, but i think that special editions, Bullitt's, GT/CS, etc... should be left as they are sold... but thats just me...
the bullitts are sweet, if I had the money I would have bought one instead of my gt.
+1 on modding anything, don't be afraid to, their are enough owners of special edition cars that won't do a thing to them so the purists can still buy them unmolested if they want, but if it was mine, it would be on like a fat kid on cake

fixed it a little bit

But I Loled at the special H pipe made to emulate the old 390 at WOT.
Did Ford really said that?
but if you read the press releases and the Ford Salesmen Info Guides it further explains the Bullitt exhaust
Ford says they studied the movie Bullitt and they say they "tuned" the H pipe & mufflers so 4.6 3v at WOT recreated a 390 at WOT.
These cars do have a good roar at WOT...but I'm fairly certain a 390 is louder
I loved the Bullitt that I drove. I thought the dash was lame. They claimed it was to make it look like an old school muscle car... What they seemed to forget was that it looked like and old school PONTIAC muscle car.
The color was my favorite part. When the 05 came out, I immediately thought "That would look sweet in highland green!", so I always sorta felt that the Bullitt was made specifically for me, lol.
I didnt get to beat on in it in the 6 minutes I drove it, but the shifter on it is SOOO nice. The car begs you to play rough with it, and I love that. A week after I drove the bullitt, I drove my first GT (with cloth seats), and it was crazy how much worse it felt than the Bullitt.
But then 8 months later I drove my LL GT (with leather), and it felt just about as good at the Bullitt did to me. The only thing missing on my GT was the "manly" feel of the bullitt shifter, and the GT500 steering wheel. The stock GT shifter feels wimpy to me. I drove a Saturn Ion and it felt better to shift than my GT. I also think that the stock Bullitt wheels look lame. It needs dd Bullitts.
So to sum up, the Bullitt is a bit better than the best GT's.. And Highland green is beautiful.
