Cool! Thanks for the info.

I had my car on a lift today at the tire shop having my winter wheels mounted back up. Me and the tech took the aforementioned 2 bolts out and shimmed the plate with a thin washer. Problem solved. I cannot even begin to tell you guys how happy I am about this. You dont realize how bad that rattle is until you fix it!

You didn't use a rubber washer? Just wondering since I have plenty of various sized metal washers in my garage but no rubber ones.

We just used some washers the tech had lying around. I was in the shop for tires and the conversation about the rattle just came up. Took maybe 5 minutes. Only took that long because he had to look for washers. Pulled the 2 lower bolts out. I grabbed the plate and bent it out a bit to make room for the washers. Then reinstalled the hardware.

Now if I could figure out how to fix the air leak in my drivers side window I'd have a quiet car.

I had the same problem on my 08 gt on a cold start it would be very loud. just got it back from ford today ( it took them 3 days to fix do to problems getting the part and also my tranny was frozen on the dowel pins) turns out mine was also the the plate that goes between the motor and trans. the old one is a solid plate but on the new one they have re designed it so it has a hole cut out in the middle of it don"t really know why.

but no more noise! id say if you have the warranty def take it in if you cant stand it they told me it was a known problem
