Default good dialogue

These forums rock...

I'm 40. I know if it seems to be too good to be true it usually is. But I am green when it comes to these Mustangs or any late model sport cars (US name plates). I figure in my quest to get myself the 'Stang I want, calling guys like this can only help. Plus...you never know.

I'm going to call the guy just to see what he says. I'll let you guys know.

Thanks for all your time...

Ray

Keep us posted Ray - at that price I told my wife if it is real I'd sell my Mustang and grab it.

One thing to check - look carefully at the dash, the real GT500 has black vents I believe. Also, the speedometer and tach are switched, there should be a SVT (maybe even in a light), and a boost gauge in the cluster is found in the GT500 in the lower right of the middle group of 4 small gauges.

Default Ok...

I called the number and it sounded like it was connecting to a fax machine. There is no VIN either. I'm guessing it's a scam. There is another one which is very similar though. It's an '07 Shelby GT500 with 7,600 miles for $18,600.

This one does have a VIN and I Carfaxed it and it did come up with a GT500 but when I called this number I got the fax sound again.

How reliable is Carfax anyway?

Ray

PS...By the way, they both had black vents...

Default you got it!

Yeah, both those cars were scams or so ir seems. I sent an e-mail to both and got the exact response from each only signed by a different person.

They wanted My name and address to start the transactions...Lol

Those are nice fookin' cars though aren't they?

Thanks for your help folks.

I'll be back soon I'm sure.

You should let Autotrader know of the suspicious listing.

The other thing that I thought about tonight, you would think that someone who has spent that amount of money and actually owned a Shelby GT500 would know that there is no such thing as a "Shelby Cobra" - and obviously this person also just pulled a set of pictures from somewhere and doesn't realize that his pictures are of a GT500KR not a GT500.

besides a Carfax, you can also run an AutoCheck (I think this is right).

The car listed in your original link is definitely a GT500. It has a Trufiber Venom Hood, Supersnake Rims, all kinds of performance mods, many carbon fiber trim pieces, etc.....needless to say, it's worth every bit of the asking price, but something is definitely not right. As others have said, either this is a scam or a there is typographical error on the add....

May not be always, but 9 times out of 10, the old saying is true!
