The old saying...
Ok, I know very little about muscle cars. I do know I enjoy Mustangs as i've always been a Ford guy and I don't have to tell any of you how sweet the late model Mustangs are.
If the right deal comes around or I should say "when" the right deal comes around I plan on getting a Mustang GT. I figure with some subtle aftermarket upgrades it can be a pretty hot car.
That being said, of course I would love to find a great deal on a Shelby GT500. I have found one or two cars on autotrader.com claiming to be GT500's and was wondering if there are a bunch of GT's built up to be GT500's but not true ones. Here is one; 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500...8,200 miles...$19,600. Aren't these $50,000 cars? Here's the address:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...srep=&engine=8 Cylinder&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&s earch_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false& search_lang=en&sownerid=171199&showZipError=n&make =FORD&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=finda car%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=13000&drive=&defa ult_sort=&seller_type=b&max_mileage=30000&style_fl ag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=48088&feature4=le ather seats&advanced=y&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission =Manual&max_price=20000&cardist=242&standard=false
I have no problem with a person building it up to have similar power and speed as a GT500. Why not, I would love to.
What am I missing here? Or is this just a great deal...lol
Thanks folks...

Isn't that hood a KR hood instead of the standard GT500 hood? It's possible to be salvage title. It can take months for a wreck to show up on Carfax. So some folks will repair and sell the car before it shows up on Carfax.

Something doesn't sound right on that car. It has the GT500KR hood and wheels, but some aftermarkete 1/4 window covers. No way to tell from the pictures if that is the 4.6 or 5.4 V8 under the hood.
But 8,200 miles and only $19,000? Kelly Blue Book says for a Shelby GT (not even the GT500) the private party price averages $26,000 in good condition. And Edmunds says that a GT500 in clean condition should go for a private party average of $35,000.
Too good to be true here. My guess is it is either a totaled that has been rebuilt, or a totaled GT that was rebuilt to resemble the GT500KR.
