I was lucky that she mostly glanced off my back wheel and totaled a Camry that was a couple of cars in front of me!! Look out for the white buffing compound they use. It is like glue and gets under the edge of the back window and around the side window and it is imposable to get out.

Hope it all works out OK for you and let’s hope Ford fixes the Mustang GT in 12
What's wrong with the current '10 and coming '11 model??

I think the '10 and '11 are fine just the way they are so what is there to fix exactly by '12??

I love the look of the new stangs. What he means by "fix them" is the back end of the car. The rear end of the car is just not appealing to a lot of people. I am one of them. I just don't like the looks of it. It doesn't however look bad on the new Saleens or SMS models. Maybe the new California Special or SVT coming in 11 will enhance the rear.

I went on a tour of the shop, interviewed the painter that would paint my car and looked at cars they had finished before selecting them for my work. But after many trips back for repaints I gave up on it. Some of the paint problems did not show for a number of months. The last paint problem was a white cast that developed under or in the clear coat in a couple of spots. Also the matching of the black color was very tough and they never could get it right. The color shift of the black mismatch could only be seen in certain light. The dealer shop was very nice about it, and kept working on it but what started out as a couple of small scratches and a new wheel just kept getting to be a bigger and bigger job as they had to repaint more of the car to get the paint right.

What really ticks me off about it is some 90 year old ding bat hit my car and then I get this pain in the neck trying to get it fixed. I hope you have better luck but in my case I didn’t want to waste anymore of my time on it!

I had been waiting for the 10s to come out in November and I had planned to buy one, but after seeing how disgusting the butt end was and no more HP I traded it for a new 09 at the same dealer. I didn’t feel like I needed to tell them about their poor paint work but they found out about the accident on a CarFax check (BTW CarFax will follow your car forever). I told them that they did all the work and I was sure they would stand behind their work and give me high book for the car. I got a great trade-in and a super buy on the 09. They had to get my 09 from another state too, because they did not have the exact GT I wanted.

One of the great things about Mustangs is that they are cheap to replace and Ford has a bunch of them but in my case I had to grab a 09 because I didn’t like the 10. Hopefully they will fix the butt end of Mustang in 12!
I am really starting to worry here. I keep hearing tons of horror stories. I have not been having a good run of things so far and I know alkemist is not having a good run either. I think we could both use a positive repair story here. Like I stated as much as the idea of walking away from a car that has been in an accident appeals to me, financially I know it is not something I can do. I am trying to think positive as I have seen some of the things that can be done now and it is amazing. As far as the body shop goes I am hoping that I have picked a shop (Which happens to be a Ford Dealer) that will do it right.

I received a phone call this morning to call the dealer at 1pm as my car would be ready. So I just got off the phone with them just now and . The car is still not done because for some reason they say they can't get the body lines to match up properly however last week I was told that was all adjustable and just needed tweeking. I told the guy to not even call me until it looks like the rear end on the Shelby GT they have in the showroom. If it doesn't look like that then they can do it again for all I care. I know they can do good work. There are a couple classic Fords in the shop that were done by them that look flawless. Any suggestions on where I should go from here?

Well I got the mustang back but it is still not right. The very cold temperatures is causing the bumper to deform. We had to order a whole new bumper and have to wait for it to warm up. It is supposed to warm up here this week which should get me my car back 100% Friday. As soon as it is back up to normal I will post some pics. Aside from the deformed bumper the work came out great. I now have to drop my truck off to get done. I really wish people would learn to drive.

WOW, that really sucks. How did the cold cause it to deform??

Well, I hope they don't change the rear because it looks good just as it is. I am NOT one of those who feel it looks bad or out of place. I guess since everyone thinks they can voice an opinion against it just thought I'd voice mine for it

I am not quite certain. The guy at the body shop showed me a bumper they were trying to warm up. The thing was so cold it was like a piece of steel. It wouldn't bend or give at all. I am guessing that in the warm up process or the extreme cold it warped causing certain areas to to not form back to factory.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was looking at them and they are starting to grow on me a bit. I still feel something is missing.
