So I went down to look at the car and they already put it in primer. I felt for welds and didn't feel anything. The bumper has not arrived yet so I didn't get to see the body gaps lined up. I was told when I go back Tuesday that the bumper will be installed and painted. So hopefully I will be happy. So far so good.

Glad everything is going smooth for you. Can't wait to see the final results.

I'm still on the wait list.. insurance sure isn't in a hurry to get my car back on the road. Maybe this is how they force people to buy their car rental insurance???

I lucked out on that because I was hit so the girl that hit me had to pay for the rental. I refuse to pay for rental insurance. I am sorry to hear they are dragging their feet in getting your car fixed.

Well after a very stressful few weeks of personal crap on top of the mustang being in the shop I got a call today to pick it up. Well that visit lasted about 15min. I came to pick up the car and I am really bothered with the mentality of today's work force. I think because of the holiday's and peoples nature to not want to work during this time gave me a less than stellar delivery. My wife and I seen the mustang when we pulled up in the rental so we went in to finalize all the papers. Well before finalizing I said I wanted to look over the car. I walked out looked at it for like 2 min and came back in with a laundry list of things that were wrong. They never repainted the spoiler which was scuffed, all the body lines were off like someone half-assed put the body panels back on, the right rear wheel was still scuffed and bent, and my favorite of all for a car that was supposed to be done...the left and right rocker panels were not even on the car. We tracked those down and they were still in primer. I talked it over with the collision center manager who was very receptive to my concerns. He apologized over and over for the poor delivery and the open issues. To make up for the mistake he is repainting my front bumper when he does the spoiler as we were discussing issues with the rock chips. I do have to say that aside from the reassembly the actual repair work is flawless. I am hoping this new year starts off right.

Sorry to hear Seems to be the season of body shop blues. How could it even have left the shop like that?? It's a good thing you looked at it before finalizing.

Always hate to see this stuff happen and expected you would be in for a hassle. From my experience, I think in the end your best bet will be to get rid of it and find a new one. That’s what I did with my 07 GT.

I would love to get a new one but I can't afford to take a hit on this one and raise the payments. So I am just going to have to be a pain in the *** for the insurance company and body shop. I won't take it back or sign the check until it is back the way it was. That is what I deserve according to my contract with my insurance company. Bottom line if it keeps coming back messed up I am going to press them to pay for the payments until it is right or total the car.

That's for sure. I wouldnt take any sub par work. As for a new stang. I prolly wont get a new one until 2014. I don't owe anything but I only had mine since July '09. Just wouldn't make any sense to take a loss that quick.

One other thing you may want to do is file a "Loss in Value" claim with the other persons insurance company. Sure, the body shop can work on your car and make it look like new but the fact remains that your car will forever be tagged in a CarFax report as having been in an accident... thus the value of your car is diminished.

When my wife and I got hit about 2 years ago we also filed a "Loss in Value" claim with the other person's insurance company and we got about 1/3 the value of the total cost in repairs sent to us in a check...

While it doesn't remove the loss in value, it certainly did ease the pain... :-)
