How can I check if my stang has a tune on it???
Hey guys! I got my car about 1 month ago and I bought it from a dealer. The car was not stock and had a few mods added to it. If you look at my signature, all those mods came with the car when I bought it. It seems like the previous owner knew a thing or two about stangs. The stang has a Steeda CAI but I don't know if the previous owner ever added a tune to it. My guess is that he did because having a CAI without a tune doesn't give you a lot of HP.
Is there a way for me to find out if there is a tune on my car (and what type) if I myself don't have a tuner yet?
I always use 93 octane just to be on the safe side... but if the car already has a 91/93 octane tune loaded, I might save myself some money and not buy a tuner for now.

i can't think of any sure way to tell.
don't know if you are auto or manual, but
i believe stock manual idle is set right around
740. if you are manual and the idle is much different,
then maybe that's a clue.

I'm pretty sure you have a tune besides the stock tune. You'd throw a CEL if you were running a stock tune on any tune-required CAI (which the Steeda CAI is). Perhaps a call to Brenspeed's tech guys can help nail it down.

I had this same exact problem. I bought mine with the steeda intake on it too and mines an auto as well. I called brenspeed and they said when you upload a tune on a new tuner it saves your pre existing tune as the stock one. Even of its not a stock tune. Hope this helps.

Other than that, I would think you could take it to the dealership and they can reset it with a new stock tune, then you could purchase urself a tuner and then upload the stock tune to the tuner as u download the custom tune to the car.

Yeah if you really want to start out with a real stock tune, let the dealer flash it. Of course, you'll need to put a stock airbox on otherwise a stock tune + steeda cai will throw a CEL and you'll run a bit lean.

The Steeda needs a tune. So I would be confident in saying you have a tune. By who, who knows. The only thing you could do it track down the original owner and ask him. Hell just switching between the older Steeda CAI and the Newer Steeda CAI needs a tune.
But it really doesn't matter in the long run. If you want to get a new tune, just get a new tune. The old one will be saved when you install the new one in the case that the new tune isn't working right.
