Cant find my rattle! help?
With my new exhaust (headers and boom tubes) ive gotten some nice rattles coming from the rear. I fixed one rattle that i found where the hanger washer was rattling since it wasnt tight but i have 1-2 other rattles coming from the rear. I think one may be from the jack in the trunk but thats merely a guess i need to investigate.
Any ideas? Im hoping to look over everything tuesday after school since im not working. Also does anyone know what the header bolts, midpipe clamps an d exhaust clamps (that cam with the boom tubes) should be torqued to?

My rattle came from the hook on the driver side muffler and the hanger. the hook was pressed up against the hanger and was sending vibrations through the trunk lid. I put some foam tape between the hanger and the muffler hook and that solved the issue.

Ok well i found the source of one of my rattles and i really cant do much about it. The BBK headers have such little clearence that if i hit on the cats you can hear the individual header pipes hitting each other. I jammed a flat head between them and it went away so i know its them. I tried to get a little teflon tape between then but its about impossible with them installed. I *may* pull the passanger side off and wrap them with something but it doesnt rattle very often.
My other noise is a high pitched squeak coming from the rear (right i think). I drove with my sear down and the carpets out of my trunk and it was quite loud. Im taking off the boomtubes today to wrap the hangers in teflon to see if that helps. If not anyone got any ideas? Could it be suspension related? If so is there anything i can grease/lube to help out?

Did you have suspension work done with the headers and mufflers? If not I would doubt if it was suspension related, unless its just a very wierd coincidence that something went wrong with your suspension that was unrelated to the headers.

No work was done other then exhaust. I kinda figured it wasnt suspension but figured id ask. I noticed one of the hangers didnt seem quite tight (although i couldnt move it it wasnt sitting flush) so i pulled it off and put a few layers of teflon tape on both sides and got it tightned back as much as possible. Ill find out later whether or not it worked.

I had rear noise. One cause was the rear hatch lock loose. Readjusting the rear hatch lock fixed it. The other stemmed from not torquing my rear suspension at LOAD (i.e. with the rear pumpkin supported completely from a floor jack) and torqued down at load.
