Shorty is nice.... Power antenna seemed like too much work to me.

Just guessing, but for a car that's supposed to be a return to the character of its late 60's ancestors, the long whip antenna is part of that.

At least it doesn't come chromed/bright finished any more.

A couple of days ago, I noticed that my (OE) antenna had come slightly loose - it rattled when I accidentally bumped it. Anybody else ever have this happen?

Edit - power antennas WILL break, it's just a question of when.

That makes a lot of sense. It just seems out of place in this updated "retro" bodystyle. I shoved mine under my desk on the shelf..

Mine was on there pretty tight when I removed it a while back.. But then it was pre-owned and the stealership could have twiddled with it.

The 2011 has the power antenna..

Just tighten it with your fingers. I take mine off every time I put the car cover on. I only hand tighten it and I've never had a problem with it coming loose.

alkemist - It's funny how the times have changed the perceptions. In the 1960's and 1970's before windshield antennas became at all common, not having a radio antenna on your car was absolute proof beyond doubt that you didn't have a car radio either (and if any radio station was playing in your car, it was coming out of a 9-volt 2-1/4" speaker portable transistor radio sitting on the dashboard).

I spray-painted several whip antennas black to make them less noticeable . . . maybe that's why I almost never notice the one on my GT.

Basically, that's what I did. Too dark to do anything more. But I do seem to remember feeling a pair of "wrench flats", so I may do something a little more permanent when I've got daylight to work in. It surprised me that it was loose at all.

Antenna deletes rule.
Got an inside the windshield amplified antenna
and junked the OEM one.

There is not enough room in the front inner fender for a power antenna.

I went Antenna delete also. The amplified antenna is only about $20 and the install was less than an hour. I had the hole filled in and it looks awesome. You can't tell the antenna was ever there. I had a local body shop fill in the antennahole and paint my mirrors and CDC spoiler at the same time for about $200.

Here is a set of instructions and a picture:
