A guy I know owns a shop down here in Houston, PSI Motorsports. He built a 200+ mph S197.

950 hp on race gas, 850 hp on pump gas. Fully streetable, AC, power steering, etc. Ran 204 mph at the Texas mile, and tops out around 215.

It was for sale, but it sold. Check the link, then PSI shop car 2008 GT500, if the link doesnt take you directly there.

correct me if im wrong, or missed it, but i dont see anywhere that says how fast he got to 240mph, he could have like 2.50 gears in there, he wasnt going for acceleration, just top speed. with small gears you can hit higher speeds but your acceleration will suffer.

After all the whole reason they went to Bonneville was to set a speed record. They wouldn't be able to run low gears ( numerically high, example 4:10s) and reach near that speed.
