I just saw Pascal's car yesterday. It does look good with that hood and the Shaker combo. but as I stated, if you just paint the stinger the Shaker cut-out and trim is wider than the stinger. Won't look right in my opinion. However, the one pictured above in Grabber Blue at that width looks awesome...

Come to think of it, you're right. The shaker is wider and it might not look right with just the stinger painted.

Thanks for the pic! Seen that one before. I totally forgot about doing a super stripe again as an option. DOH! lol
It looks kind of like my current one except a bit wider. I'm leaning more towards it now.

I think it would go perfectly with your car.

I think the problem will be when you cut the hole, you will need a trim ring for the opening or a good bit of body work to finishes the edges? Maybe the trim ring for a stock hood could be made to work? The 69 style hood from CDC for the shaker looks to have the edges of the hole for theh shaker "rolled" so it doesn't need the trim ring? Also, if you don't mind, who is selling them that cheap? I would be interested?
The trim ring I got is designed for the almost flat stock hood...
CDC doesn't make one to match the contour of the 69 bulge (called the stinger I guess).
I had to bent this one with a heat gun after I removed some material underneath in the front 2 corners to allow a clean shape.
A final touch with sand paper and it looks stock when the hood's open.

Thanks for the tip on how to make the trim ring fit. I'm sure that's what I'll have to do with the Saleen super shaker trim ring. By the way, what's the average cost to paint an aluminum hood (top & bottom)? I'd like to get an idea of what's reasonable when I shop around for a painter. Thanks!

Very nice, Pascal, is there anything you can't do? I didn't think the hood that came preformed for the shaker needed a trim ring, but I think it looks cleaner with it. Damn you guys, now I am on the web searching...............I wonder if CDC sells just the trim ring, because I am sure I could royally screw up a first attempt with a heat gun? LOL

To the poster, have you checked out CDC yet, I believe they had a sale on this hood prepainted for like $600 and you might have that much into the Saleen hood after painting? Although, I guess it would be easier, less stressful, to cut a hole before it is painted?

I believe they do sell that trim ring separately...
Make sure to heat it from the bottom and take your time if you attempt this, so you don't affect the texturized finish.

The first thing I did when I was looking at this hood/shaker combo is ask CDC if a trim ring existed for that hood...
They said no, you're no supposed to use one.
I was like 'Yeah right!'
Looks like schit without it so I modified the provided one.
I sent them pictures of the car when it was done with close up of the Shaker and ring but didn't make any comments, lol.
When I saw them at SEMA they all asked me: "Where did you get that ring, where did you get that ring?" Lol, priceless!

07CalSpec, $500 is a decent quote for painting said hood.
Don't pay over $600 though.

Edit: I forgot to add an extra $100 for prep if you start with a bare aluminum hood. So $600 is a good price.
