Default Window Tints and cops

If my car is registered in Pennsylvania, can I get pulled over in a different state and get ticketed for window tints?

I know that window tint laws are not universal and change from state to state so my assumption is that I cannot get ticketed. However I might be wrong... any help would be appreciated.

From my understanding no they cannot ticket you in another state. Its the same concept as having your car registered in another state so you can avoid emmisions if you live in an emmisions state.

Absolutely true, unless you establish residency in that other state and just haven't bothered changing your license tags yet. But, then you have some other problems to deal with too:-)

They can't ticket you but they can definately pull you over for them, which can open the door for other violations.

I had window tint and was registered in nj. I go to school in central PA, and never had problems here in PA, however once I stepped into jersey I was getting tickets left and right.

What % tints did you have? I will soon be tinting my car and I am debating between 20% and 35%. The good thing is that Im barely ever in PA so I am not too worried about that.

You'll have less problems in PA than in NY/NJ area...the tint laws are a bit stricter.

Jersey rear tints are anything...you can have 5% if you wanted to...but you cannot have ANY tints on the front passenger doors or windshield. People do it all the time, but people also get pulled over for it. Its up to you if you want to risk it or not.

woah.. I just realized that I have gotten a ticket here in NC when my car was still registered in FL for having 5 % tint.. it was dismissed either way and had nothing to pay but I'm still baffled that I did not know about this. I could have told the guy to go screw him self

I live just south of the Virginia line, and know for sure that they ticket cars from out of state for their tint. It has happened to me, and many others I know from our side of the border. I didn't matter that our cars were registered here, and not there. As close to a gestapo state as I've seen.
