I know that window tint laws are not universal and change from state to state so my assumption is that I cannot get ticketed. However I might be wrong... any help would be appreciated.
Tint is just like any other law on the book. If it's illegal in the state you are physically in, you can be stopped and can be cited. Period.

It's not the job of the cop to know the law in every other state. Just his own.

Probably not. To do so would involve extradition, which for a misdemeanor traffic violation would be a farce.

It doesn't involve extradition. It's an interstate agreement between most states. If you get a DUI in one state, it can effect your driver license in another. Most 50 states have agreements with the others to recognize the other's DMV administrative actions.

The real answer is, "depends on what you state you live in, what state you got the violation in and what the violation was."

Haha you should try that and break out the doctor note when you get pulled over.

We have ***** for cops in VA. I got pulled over in Oct. for having a very faint blue tint cover on my license plate. He gave me a warning and said I needed to remove it.

Sometimes I wonder if cops pull people over just to give them a hard time and VA is one of those states that don't allow radar detectors too lol.

Yes, even if your tints are legal in the state where your car is registered once you drive into another state where the laws are different you can get a ticket.
