I need your help
I once was mildly interested in a 350Z. Took one out for a drive (a brand new '05, IIRC) and was appalled at the pitiful lack of torque. And the horrible interior. And the gun slits. It did handle very well, though.
But what do I know? I'm completely V8-addicted...no 12-step program is going to help.

Well they wouldn't let up on me so yah.
I keep thinking about it. Should i get the GT or keep with my Z. Here is where I am at in my train of thought. My Z has proven itself to me countless times. I know it handles beautifully. It catches a lot of attention (especially from cops, its red). It does lack torque, no argument in that department. But also with the Z ive grown attached to the Z community, especially in my city. Not just that but ive grown attached to her. Ive had so many firsts in her it almost shameful to discard it for another (i know, its sounds sappy).
For the mustang, well...what can i say? Its my dream car. The history, the legend, the attitude, the everything about the car appeals to me. The rumble of that all American V8 is intoxicating. The look it seems to give you when you approach one, as if to say "I dare you to step inside me, i dare you..." I love all of that. It even has back seats, which i know aren't too functional, but still. And being 6'1 it does fit me better then the Z ( outward appearance ). And even after i have said all this, i still have reservations about the quality and reliability. I know, you have said that it is reliable and that it does have quality. But there is no way to really be sure. There is no way i can obtain a concrete piece of evidence that it is what you say it is. Unless i purchase one.
When all is said and done, i think i will stick with my Z. Yah she's underpowered, torque is too low,s he doesn't instill fear into me when i glance at her. And yes her interior is very sparse (VERY) but it is well put together.
So, im sorry. Sorry i wasted your time. But i do appreciate all the replies and all the input you all have given me in aiding my choice. Who knows maybe i would have been better off getting a mustang. But im not one to make decisions that i deem 'risky".
Thank you

You're making a mistake of letting people telling you what car to get...
If what you're saying is really true, then you will regret it.
I'm not saying this because I'm on a Stang Forum either...
If you had a Stang and YOU (not somebody else) really wanted to go with a Z, than we would advised you to get that Z.
We've done this before with members that switched or got a second car.
Every brands will have the fanboy stereotype owners.
Domestic cars are still hurt because of previous poor quality cars that they spitted out.
I still won't buy a GM or Chrysler though, especially now that it's Government property, fukk that!!
Ford pushes out a good product now and before you close the Mustang chapter for yourself, go test drive the 2011 GT in a few of months. Heck even the 305hp V6 sounds fun.
Good luck.

What concrete evidence made you buy your first Z? I had a '72 240Z that literally rusted out from under me!
My 2010 Mustang is the first American car I ever bought (I'm 61) and I love it!
I know we have already lost you, but you have stated in you last post all the reasons you should go Mustang.
Just Do It!

+1 to what pascal said. YOU have to like the car you choose. Not anyone else. And any group of 'friends' who are ONLY willing to be your friends based on what car you drive... well, are they really your friends in that case?
I saw some of the things they were saying to you when you mentioned that you were interested in the Mustang but still wanted to be a part of the Z community. It wasn't cool. There are plenty of people here on this Forum (or in local Mustang groups) that don't own a Mustang, but either have in the past, or merely just appreciate the car. They're welcomed just like the next person. That said, even if you end up with the Z, know that as long as you don't start acting like the people on your Z forum, you'll likely still be welcomed here any time you want to talk Mustang. You haven't wasted our time. We're not a bunch of salespeople Ford pays to be here. What we say is based on our experiences, and we think highly enough of them that we want you to experience it, too.
Now, that said, I'm inherently biased since I work for Ford, and I'd love to see you choose a Mustang, but nevertheless, YOU have to like the car YOU choose, and while I'll do what I can for you and answer whatever questions I can, I'm not going to force you into a car you don't want, even if my company makes it.

To SharX59, I just want to say, brother, you need to do what YOU want to do. It's your money, your feelings and your happiness. Being a Mustang fan is one thing, being an owner is better!! I will admit and this is my honest experience and thoughts about the current gen Mustang. The '05s do lack some refinement that the later cars picked up the ball that Ford dropped. I had a '05 GT for 17 months and it had some teething problems(the gas tank filling issue, bad passenger door seal & a bad battery from the factory) but the '06 I bought in Aug of '06 has only had one issue since new, a fuel pump take a dive at around 24,000 miles, but Ford promptly fixed it(along with a new fuel filter) and no other hiccups in 38,800 total(to date). I have a co-worker that bought a 2004 350Z new & shes loves it(it has over 70,000 miles on it to date), but she had two or three issues that Nissan took care of and she's been very happen thus far. Have you noticed that cars(any car) just don't break down like they used to? You never see cars on the side of the road with their hoods up like back in the day. Usually they're out of gas(I live in 10 million car L.A. BTW-hahaha). I dreamed of owning a Mustang GT since I turned 16 in late 1981(when Ford launched the new GT for '82, coincidence? I think not!
