Is the leather really that bad?

My past three cars (including the Mustang) have all had leather, and I really haven't had issues. Like most things, the more care you put into it the longer the quality will last.

I agree with most people that Armorall is a tad too greasy all around (leather products, vinyl products, etc). Meguires is probably the best bang for the buck, but there are a lot of products that you get.

Let me try a different tack:

are there any aftermarket suppliers of leather interiors? Yeah, I'm sure you can get a Recaro seat which is fine, but does anybody provide an integrated solution for tastefully upgrading the interior leather. These options exist in the Vette world, I'm just not up to speed yet on the various 'stang vendors.

First, let me tell you that American car makers haven't made an all leather seating surface since 1973. I know this because I had a 1974 Coupe DeVille, and that was one of the first years of the leather seating surfaces. Why they made this change could only be do to costs. I personally found that Zaino leather cleaner and preserver works the best. Lexol is good, but I always felt like the seats were sticky. I do it every couple of months. Plus here in Florida most cars have dark tinted windows as well to help with the sun. All leather seats, as well as cloth will show where after anytime. Good luck in your decision. But leather is for me.

I've had my car since new and now have 14,400 miles on it. Seats look almost brand new. Regularly use the Meguiars Leather spray on them.

Again, come look at the seats in my 2001 Ford E-150 Conversion Van. It's true that conversion van companies like LA West or Sherrod do use aftermarket products for their vans but they are AMERICAN companies. I would have to look at the tag on my seats, but I can tell you that they are made of ALL LEATHER. VERY comfortable especially for the long trips.
