I'll be an older dood in 2 more years, and I have ownwd 2 Toyota's, and I'll never own one again. My ex-girlfriend has a 2000 Celica with about 80k on the clock that is starting to dollar her to death. If she was still my girlfriend she could be driving one of my Fords while hers in in the shop and not a rental. I did not start this post though to bash Toyota, they are bashing themselves well enough. I read somewhere that 34 deaths are attributed to faulty Toyatas that have now been recalled. I just wondered if anyone here was too skeert to buy a Toyota and ended up in a Ford because Qaulity is rated number 1 at Ford. By the way, my 78 Ford runs fine, and the engine, transmission and rear end have never been cracked open. Anyone here have a 78 Toyota?

It's interesting that nobody mentioned the deaths and injuries due to the Ford Explorer rollovers and Ford's reluctance to admit a problem with the Firestone tires until pushed by the government. I suppose love IS blind.

Not so much "love is blind" as "time heals all wounds". I still remember that whole debacle very clearly. It is not quite the same, however, as Ford's issues were with a part external to the core vehicle that was also very readily identifiable as not a ford part. Yeah, Ford royally screwed the pooch by sweeping it under the rug and hoping it would just go away, but let's just say they weren't known for stellar quality even beforehand (Quality is Job #1 my ***) whereas toyota was. It's all subjective, i guess

I doubt that in 15 years we will remember this with more than a fuzzy haze either.

Just now Denny Hamlin just had a right rear tire go flat, causing him to spin out, I'll go on record and say it's not Toyota's fault!

It was Ford's fault since it was a Fusion front splitter that seems to have caused it

Oh well at least Toyota save a ton of money by burying the recall as long as they could!

All I can say is that it smells really bad as far as I can say. I don't recall if there was ever any criminal investigations when Ford had the Explorer fiasco. Considering GM is now Government Motors, it really stinks of protectionism in a back room deal sort of way. If Toyota did something wrong then it is a civil matter, not criminal.

It never fails, money and corruption have always been twin brothers...Ford is not exempt, Gm isn't, Toyota isn't, or Chrysler....its as reliable as death and taxes...and you know what, people die everyday because of it!
