Default Auto lamp sensor

Question concerning the auto headlamp feature: is there anyway to adjust how quick the sensor turns the lights on? When entering a tunnel, it takes a solid 20 seconds for the lights to come on for my car, however the sensor does seem to respond faster
when turning them off. I would like it to react faster, but I don't know if this is possible. Maybe a different sensor is availAble??

sometimes my car turns them on right away when i pull in my garage, other times it takes a few seconds. I dont understand why but I doubt it can be adjusted

It may be able to be adjusted.. I will play with it... I know on my G35 that I had you could adjust the headlight delay

Isn't there an option for the delay in the setup menus through the Setup in the gauge cluster? I haven't looked at it in a while, but I thought I saw something there. Not sure.

I think what you may be refering to untame, is the delay for the lights for turning off after exiting the car. Can't say I remember seeing an adjustment for them turning on. Just my .02.

Are you sure you didn't mix things up in your post?

It should not take 20 seconds if the tunnel is dimly lit. Your headlights should turn on within seconds.

Again, it seems like you may have mixed up what you're trying to say. Your headlights should turn on almost immediately when a dim lightning condition occurs, and then stay on for about 30-60 seconds once normal lighting conditions resume. I don't believe there is a way to shorten this 30-60 second delay, as it would be really annoying if your headlights flickered on and off as you enter/exit a series of tunnels.

I agree with AJ. From a safety aspect alone, the lights would need to come on quickly. I also recall some folks commenting that it takes a while for the lights to return to "daylight" mode which supports this.

If indeed what you are describing is correct, I would take it back to the dealer as this isn't right and could be dangerous.

I have no real world experience with this yet so I can't comment with any certainty.

AJ,

I'm not confused. The sensor turns the headlights when I enter a tunnel, it just takes too long; anywhere from 10-20 seconds. As a reference, much of the traffic includes Audis, Bimmers, and Benzs, all equiped with the same feature, and their lights activate almost immediately. The dig is there alot of long tunnels, so I am constantly cognizant.

No big deal really, the feature works, I just want it to perform as responsive as capable.

I drive under a freeway overpass every day going to work. I'm traveling about 45mph and the overpass is maybe 80 feet long. My headlights are turned on automatically by the time I exit from the overpass. They turn on within seconds.

When I arrive at work and enter the dimly lit parking structure I get about 15 feet inside before my headlights turn on. Again, within seconds.

If you enter dim conditions and it takes 10-20 seconds for your headlamps to illuminate, something isn't right.

Mine is definately not as responsive as yours. If it starts bugging me too much, I'll take the car to the local stealership. Thx for the response
