Default Help with weak start

My car's had a strange symptom that I can't quite put my finger on. Sometimes when I start it, it starts weak....like it struggles to turn over. Sometimes it kind of bogs on start up. And sometimes it takes an extra long time from the time I turn the key until it actually starts. About 75% of the time it starts just fine. This has been happening off and on for months, and doesn't seem to be getting any worse or any better. Since it's not getting worse or better, and has been happening for several months, I'm not sure that it's the alternator or starter. I've cleaned the maf, throttle body, and CAI. I changed plugs like 18 months ago and had no symptoms for a long time. changing my tune has no effect. I'm thinking it's just a borderline weak battery, and I plan on getting it tested soon.

Note that once it starts....it runs perfectly and strong. What do y'all put your money on?

Is it the original battery? If so, it's about time for a new one. Unfortunately from what I've read, these OEM batteries aren't worth a darn!

Glad to hear it is likely the battery. It's not the OEM, but it's whatever the heck they sell at 0'reillys. I'd like to get an Interstate or DieHard......does anyone know which number/model I need from either of those companies?

Thanks everyone

haha. I'll check into that. I just did the "battery selector" from the DieHard website, and it said that no batteries would work for my GT......lame website

I had the same problem because I don't drive it everyday. I bought a "trickle" charger for $25.00 and it solved the problem. The service guy at Ford said that they had a paragraph in their newsletter suggesting this. (I never saw it)
