I ordered mine yesterday. AJ_68, do you have any additional pointers or tips to get this thing programmed?

I edited post #8 to reflect small things I noticed. Print that out and you should be good to go.

I have one of these en route for my 08 GT just wondering....

The dealership wants to charge 75 bucks and said it will take 40 mins to cut the key am I better off just taking it to a locksmith or a lowes. I just read a horror story where someone took it to a locksmith and they cut it wrong. Any feedback is appreciated.

I would trust a locksmith over Lowes, but that's me. I know I am going to go to a locksmith. Either way, if they screw up they should pay.

It took a local locksmith about 60 seconds to cut the key. Programming only takes 2 minutes if you get it on the first try. Assuming it takes several attempts you should have it programmed yourself in 20 minutes or less.

Lowes may or may not be able to cut it. My local Lowes would not cut it. The local locksmith cut it in about 1 minute for $5.00. To program the key and FOB should take less than 10 minutes.

Got mine this AM. I love it.

AJ - Followed your instructions and got it programmed and operational in about 2 minutes. Thanks for your great post with the step by step instructions. Much appreciated.

Edit: What a pain in the a** to get a ring on the key to attach to a key chain! Had to disassemble the key and fabricate something from one of my daughter's school ID rings to get something with a small enough radius to fit in there. Arrrggg.

No problem.

You're right, finding a small enough key ring was difficult for me as well. The garage door opener on my key ring had a small ring I was able to use. Below are some pictures the seller sent me. I purchased a couple key rings smaller than what the seller recommended and they still didn't work.
