walmart can also program the transponder in case you dont have 2 keys for the car already. I bought my mustang used and only got 1 key and 1 fob. The dealership wanted $150 to do it. $50 for the key and $100 for the programing. I laughed...ordered a key off ebay for $15 and gonna take it to walmart to program the transponder and cut it tomorrow. Walmart has not had any ford keys in stock lately. if they did they charge $50 for the key and nothing for program. If you take a key in you pay the few bucks for the cutting and they usually do program for free

Can anyone confirm this? Weird that Walmart of all places would have the equipment to program these. That would be awesome though.

lots of places have the necessary equipment to do this. local locksmiths walmarts maybe goodyear and firestone too. you can always just call a walmart and ask...just be ready to hold. the ones around me transfer me to the auto department..but no one ever answers haha

I couldn't get it to work on my 2006. It wouldn't recognize the fob functions

This is what I have for my '06 GT. It works like a charm and Lowe's and Home Depot CAN CUT THEM. They will tell you they can't, but just tell them to use cartridge "A" in their machine. I got mine cut there and it worked like a champ. And yeah, to get the buttons to work you have to do the procedure VERY quickly.

When I took my blank to Home Depot they didn't even charge me. Just put it in the cartridge and 30 seconds later I was on my way.

Question; has anyone had their buttons stop working randomly? Like the programming somehow cleared from the fob. About 2 weeks ago I went out to get in my car and none of the buttons would control the car. The blue light came on. The key would manually unlock and start the car. I reprogrammed it with the originals and it started working again. Thought it was very peculiar.

ok. Just got back from Walmart trying to program my ebay bought blank key. They CANNOT program the keys bought online. Evidently the ebay keys can only be programmed by having to keys for the vehicle and using the process mentioned earlier in the thread. BUT Walmart can program a brand new new. Cost for key, program and cutting...$63. not as bad as the $150 the dealership wanted. and now I have a second key. So now I can buy the ebay flip keys and program them myself. Evidently the ebay keys are not completely blank. they have some sort of programming that is only recognized by the car unless you pay a ton of money for a locksmith to hook a computer up to the car computer and make the key that way. Walmarts keys are completely blank and they just make a clone of your key.
