Are these blackout covers illegal to use in New Jersey? I know tinting is illegal, but is this?

and are these quarter window louvers hard to install on my own?

I know for all of these they give you the tape, but is this reliable and good?

Thanks

You could call your DMV and ask them about the lights.

The Roush louvers are a snap to install. 3m tape holds the brackets onto the car, and you use screws to hold the louvers to the brackets:

Putting tint or tinted covers over your brake lights is not only illegal in most states but very foolish. If anyone rearends you they could actually claim to not be at fault, if you had covers over your lights. You would be giving a drunk driver or texting nut a total break.
Save the covers over the lights for show only.
Headlight covers are a little different, if you're not in a state that requires daylight headlight use. Most cops will ignore them during the day but at night you will have to remove then, as you won't be able to see a thing.

For instillation of the louvers, just follow the directions right there on the AM page.
The key to getting the tape to stick is prep and temp. So make sure it's nice and clean and not too cold. Use the 3M red tape, as it works the best.

And don't bother to tint your rear side windows if you are going to have louvers on them!

Foolish, maybe, but not always illegal (must be visible from at least 200ft I believe according to DOT regulations..for which states I am not certain)

If you ever want to take the louvers off you will have 2 more windows to tint.. doesnt affect visibility, so why not do them?

I say do them REALLY dark, darker the better.

Cops cant bust your ***** for a tint they cant see

Thanks man! Yeah I don't think I am going to do the blackout panels for what you said: If someone rear-ends me, I am at fault if they claim they couldn't see my brake lights. I may get them for occasional use, but doesn't seem like a smart choice to use too often.

The window louvers I still like. I just am undecided on black or red as of now. Leaning towards black to watch my wheels.

And I had no intention of tinting any windows, I just wanted to black out the back with the panels, but now I don't think its a good choice
