Default I'm getting a squeak in my driver's side window

I live in New york city and this week has been raining everyday. When it's wet my power window on the driver's side has a squeak noise mostly when I'm trying to roll the window back up. The passenger side window seems to be fine. My friend said it just needs to be lubricated. I hope I don't have to open the whole door panel to fix this problem. Anyone know what is the problem and how to make it not make this noise?

A squeak or "scratching" sound? Has the performance of the window going down/up slowed down any?

Have you tried to install moleskin into your window sills?

This is just my guess, but I am guessing that the window felts you currently have are faulty. Moleskin for your windows might eliminate the squeak.

Moleskin isn't going to solve much. I put that in my 06 and it ended up looking like crap (fading, losing its softness) very quickly. I purchased newer tracks for like $57 bucks shipped from Tousley that come off the 08 or newer Mustangs that have better felt than my 06 did (didn't have any) ... and that still doesn't solve anything. They still have that "scratch" sound. Debris gets stuck in those tracks and there's not much I think you can do about it.

well I'd say it's a scratching sound. I had my Mustang for 2 weeks now and it was fine till it rained. Now ever since....it has that noise on the driver's side window NOT the passenger side. The speed of the window going up and down has not changed

let me guess no one has gotten in the passenger side?

Sounds like you just got a bit of water down in the door panel and its squeaking on the window seal when it moves up when you close your door.

It happend on mine during the winter, it eventually went away.

I get this when it rains lightly on the drivers side. Sounds like a bad windshield wiper?

It's hard to explain but check the part of the glass at the rear of the window (the edge closest to the rear of the car). The moulding there is not usually perfect and when you roll the window up and down it rubs that edge of the glass just right to get that scratching/squeaking.

You can get some silicone lubricant (not spray but grease like used for pool equipment o-rings). Roll the window down all the way, and put some grease in that corner of the molding that the window passes through. Roll the window up and down a couple of times, reapply the grease one more time and wipe the window down. Should be good for a year or longer.

Hi Will3212,

I wanted to make sure you saw my post on your other thread. I recommend demonstrating the noise for a technician next time it is in for service. If you would like help with resolving this, please PM me your VIN, contact info, mileage, and dealer so I can try to assist.
