I'm getting ready to install my Kooks long tubes and I called Bama/American Muscle (since I have free tunes for life), and they said that it did require a tune and have already sent it to me. I will see how it runs this weekend after the install.

yeah, im waiting for a bbk tb i bought from a memeber, going to vegas this weekend then going to get her tuned after the tb is installed.. might give bama a shot. let me know how it all works out.

My LTs are now installed and thankfully I am not having the issues the OP is having. Throttle response is much better and even with HF cats and the spin tech mufflers my car is loud as sh#t!! Sounds very old school muscle. I will be racing again next week and see how it goes. I will eventually order a new tune from another tuner just to see the difference.
