Yeah right, 30+mph on the new sixxer...
Only when you drive like Grand Pa or with the cruise set a 70mph on the Interstate.
The rest of the time, with 300hp, you'll be flooring it and there goes your gas mileage.
Just put a Vortech on the car you have now and you'll safely have over 300hp at the wheels.
For less than $5000.

Firstly you are talking like your motor is 'going to go". Well, forgive me, but you're worried about fuel consumption, so it follows that you drive coolly and calmly to conserve fuel. So in this case there's no reason to assume your motor won't last for 200,000 miles or more.
Secondly, you want to what, change the whole motor, driveline, wiring looms, computer, exhaust and God knows what else to save a few bux on gas mileage. I think you're forgetting to factor the cost of the conversion into your projected fuel savings. It'd take you YEARS to recoup the differential cost between fixing/using the current motor and converting to the 3.7.
Just sell the Mustang and put your money into a fast little Rice boiler, you'll have as much power to weight and it'll do 45mpg all day long.

That was a useless post Marcus.
I don't want a ricer but the prospect of an efficient 300HP engine is appealing, and while I expect the engine will last a while people have been having a lot of issues lately with stock blocks just going bad. I would rather know what is involved before something bad happens and I don't have time to think. I am not buying the Mustang for a performance car, but I do want a daily driver that can perform better than what I have now.
Driving conservatively now I can get 27 MPG, 29 if I draft.
I will be driving a lot, not a little but a lot so the return will be faster than you expect. I like the way my Mustang looks, not the 2010+ not the 2004 and down.
Big ideas I think are best written/typed and discussed so I am perfectly ok with talking to people who have done swaps and possibly Ford techs on here, that doesn't include people who are not going to help me, like you. Thanks
