You beat me to it.
My girlfriend is pretty cool about me modding (within reason), but every once in a while I have to express my costs in Coach bags for her so she can get an idea of how much she spends on stuff as well (you know, like those Wendys' commercials back along where everything is in "Jr Bacon Cheeseburgers" )

every time my wife complains about mods, i remind her that when she met me i was spending a lot of money on boos, speeding tickets and woman (including her), so she should be happy that my spare cash is now limited to my car, not to mention her 5 cats, fish, dog and horse.

plus, with modding, i have something tangible to show for the money spent; one of the reasons i much prefer to mod the car than going on vacations.

One big reason is because I live in SoCal where it's hard to throw a rock without hitting another mustang (not that I would ever do that lol) and it's fun to find ways to stand out from the crowd. It's typical to see a few mustangs every time I get in my car, but its fun to imagine people appreciating a car that looks different from every angle

absolutley true, theres mustangs up the *** around here, its not rare for me to come to a stoplight and have a mustang infront or behind me and another to my side, i often come to lights next to 2 other mustangs, and its nice to know i stand out, and i turn heads and its distinctive, and i never hear anybody say, "hey i think i saw you driving..." my friends come up and say, "hey i saw you driving down chapman ave" or "i saw you on the 55 freeway" whenpeople see my mustang they immediatley know its me, no questions asked.

Simply put...we are guys...and we have to show ours is bigger then the next guy! Horse power is all about inflicting the "mine is bigger" onto a less Hp car...I had a great experience last week...A new Camaro came up on me while I was in my GT...was giving me s*** about how he would kick my a** in a race...so i told him ok...I will meet him in 30 mins out of town to settle it...so I went home got my GT500 running 550 rwhp and when out...should have seen the look on his face when I ask..."how big your d*** feel now"...it was fun...BTW...the SS on the Camaro's...stands for Snake Snacky...we all want a bit of unique...

Actually, that kind of stuff has made people assume that the Mustang is a chick car....even the GT's. Thanks for totally emasculating us all.

This is my second Mustang that I've modded. To an extent, it's true that many of us here are "spending money we don't have, on parts we don't need, to impress people we don't know". Obviously we have the money to do it. Could that money be more wisely spent? Perhaps... but what fun is that. It's a hobby of mine. If I'm not adding a new part to the car, I'm cleaning it or driving it. It turns heads and people go out of their way to compliment my car... and that brings a smile to my face... and isn't that what it's all about?
