Question to HID owners
#12
All HID kits do this. Just as Allstar mentioned you get the initial bright startup and as it warms up it gets slightly dimmer. If they get as dim as stock as you say then maybe you do have a problem because the stock bulbs were just horrible.

My Retro Solutions kit warms up pretty quickly and are WAY brighter than stock (35W, 4300K). When I installed mine I took a lot of care to use the factory grounds which are under the radiator cover on the passenger side of the slam panel on the 2010. I also took my power feed directly from the fusebox connection. Full details, links and photos below...

Best of luck getting them sorted!

The same thing was happening to my step dad's 2006 F150 I bought him some HIDs 35W and they were doing exactly what you were saying. I later found out he needed a relay harness, personally I have HIDs and I don't need a relay harness. But if worse comes to worse just go ahead and get one they are about $10 and it basically just pulls power for them off your battery instead of out of your headlight socket.
Here are some pics of my 8K's, last pic is on the strip in Panama City just to give you an idea of how bright they are and I didn't even have them pointing correctly there...
