Oxygen Sensor "simulator"
I noticed someone mention "Oxygen Sensor Simulator" in another thread. I've been having trouble passing emissions in MA because my Roush has headers and an off-road H pipe (no cats). I'd been planning to invest in a hi-flow catted H-pipe, but if the "simulator" will fool the emissions test by simulating a signal that the cats are working... THAT would be an even BETTER solution (cheaper AND doesn't alter my car's performance).

Does anyone know if would this device work for me?

Here's another (even cheaper) solution I just found in a Google search...

good point and fair enough.
that is an excellent link, i'd like to hear what db157
thinks about it and whether it could work.
What kind of emissions test do they do? They have a few cities in Louisiana that do emissions testing but they do it by putting a sensor in your tail pipe and telling you to start your car, so no matter if you were getting a CEL or not if your actual emissions were over the limit you would fail. So some states just look at your dash to see if you have a CEL?
INteresting developments on this thread while I slept...LOL! I'm going to explore the ideas presented here & let you know my findings...
In MA the emissions test just plugs into the OBD port & checks that O2 & cats read "ready"... mine read "not ready". I believe there MUST be a way to "fake" the desired reading electronically. One of these simulators should work, however there was mention in the paladinmicro link that "newer cars" may be too sophisticated to be fooled by the device presented there.

The non-fouler trick might work, but I'm pretty sure the resistor won't work. I think the reason there are no "MIL Eliminators" for our cars, is because the control unit is too smart to be fooled by a simple resistor.
So what do you guys think of this email I got after inquiring about the simulator sold by a certain company (I blocked the name so as NOT to get them in trouble) - any techies want to take a stab at it? The get $69 for each unit... which seems a bit high!
Thanks for contacting XXX.
XXX simulator does work on your Mustang (if fitted with 4-wire post oxygen sensor) and cures all catalyst efficiency and oxygen sensor related error codes resulted by exhaust modifications (header or free flow cat back) or decatting thus you can retrieve the power lost due to check engine light illumination.
Dual exhaust with two post oxygen sensors requires 2 units.
