It has no back seats and a laughable trunk, its suspension is - how you say - very sports oriented, and the price differential gets quite a bit wider once you see how much insurance is for one of those things.

That having been said, if you want a corvette, get a corvette. If you're throwin' down cash on a vehicle, what your heart says matters just as much as what your brain says. Go with your first instinct; it's usually right. You don't want to buy a mustang and spend the whole time going "damn, wish I'd bought the vette instead!" Or vice versa.
Yeah I hear ya man, was just surprised to see an MSRP that was 3k away from GT500 money 2 years ago (or in other terms, about $45/month in payment). I've often wondered if Ford and Chevy won't eventually pull a "toyota supra" and take a car that was reasonably priced for what you get, then slowly price it right out of the market and into extinction. This is basically what happened to the Supra of the mid 90s. 40 grand+ is serious money for what was supposed to be fairly budget minded pony car. Ahh well, times change. At those prices all that will happen is they won't ever get me to bite again because the options become broader as the sticker climbs.

Regardless, your ride is sure to be a beauty, I'm sure you are very excited to get your hands on it. Thanks for your service man.

So get better tires! I've noticed a definite traction increase going with wider, summer tires. Plus there are other gears (2nd, 3rd for example) where you will spend more time and enjoy the lower ratio. I would definitely go with 3.73's.
