Default alternator help

my stock alternator, almost 4 years old and 37,000 miles is dying. id like to get a replacement, but dont want to spend $350 for the PA alternator, nor do I want to buy another motorcraft, because I don't feel like replacing my alternator every 40k miles... does anyone have a good source to get a good 4.0 alternator? my system is pretty much the stock shaker 500, but i do have a vortech, and a couple of gauges which should not be drawing too much power.

this one looks good but im pretty sure ill need to upgrade to a 4 gauge power wire and have never heard of this website:

IMO, even a rebuilt alternator meeting the specs of the OE one is fine. I've replaced factory alternators in a few cars with rebuilt ones from Pep Boys or Autozone and they lasted just as long as the OE, if not longer. Even if they fail a bit earlier, you're still ahead money-wise.

i bought this alternator, AP6.0 Ford Mustang High Output 200Amp Alternator 4.0L 2005-2006 This Premium High Output Alternator features a 200Amp Stator,New Original Motorcraft Regulator,High Performance Bearings, an underdrive pulley, and an HD Rectifier that features:- OE validated $160

ford got me for $89.95 to confirm the alternator was dead, and wanted $440 for alternator parts and labor, no thanks. i think i need to upgrade to a 4gauge wire but oh well, this will be the first alternator ive ever replaced after owning 8 other cars, all with many more miles.

It's really hit or miss. I've owned vehicles since 1977 and never had to replace an alternator. Some will last 10K mile and some 10 times that.
