Installing an aftermarket radio in these cars is cake, just make sure you pick up the right mounts and adapters:

You can use this

or this one if you want to work a bit more but save $$$$$$$$$$

And this mount

I got mine installed professionally for $110. It looked really clean. I'm sure I could do it myself, but based on the prices of the parts it doesn't really seem worth the effort.

Thanks for the warning on the 12v v 4v problem. However, the specs for Pioneer list pre-amp voltage at 2.2 Does that mean I would not need an amplifier for that particular model?

Anyone with the Pioneer AVIC wanna share their experience in installing it etc etc?
No it is realistic, I'd recommend the PAC interface kit to install it though, and that's another 130. Also it isn't the preamp voltage, it is the turn on voltage, Fords is 4v while most aftermarket is 12v. The PAC kit takes care of this though. Install isn't too bad either, but I guess that's easy for me to say because nothing can be worse than installing a radio into my buddies Sable.

I did the install too and it wasn't that bad considering it was my 1st ever. I too wanted a cheap nav HU. However quickly relized how much i was going to have to spend if i didn't want to mount a big turd in my center console. I ended up scrappin the idea and went with a kenwood ddx512 which would be this years ddx514. It doesn't have all the fancies but works and looks really good. And the plus is you can get all the stuff for it as you have money such as nav, bluetooth, sat, and whatnot. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-DDX-514-.html
