Will the new BBK fit the 05-09 GT500 wheels or the new kit require 19" wheels for clearance?

Should be fine with the '07-'09 GT500 wheels with all big brake kits 14" & under in rotor size. I believe the 15" rotors(and larger) require a 19" & above wheel.

Default If you can't take the heat....

I was reading all the things everyone had to say through out this thread and I was hoping nobody had mentioned the brake fluid so I could be the first, but I will definately second that.

I've got track experience and as far as Ive been taught, ture track brake pads and rotors are practically disposable and are changed out with ease, that's how they are designed. Max performance equals minimum life.

If you are looking to upgrade your brakes by getting bigger calipers with more pistons and increasing the size of your pads, your gonna generate more heat. True brake performance comes from its ability to withstand and disipate the HEAT! I don't care how sophisticated your brake system is, if it can't disipate heat efficiently you can warp and crack your rotors and pads.

The brake fluid and its reservoir retains the most heat through out the entire brake system. I've seen brake fluid heat up to the point it melted a plastic reservoir and spilled out all over the road mid-race. Without fluid your pads and rotors are paper weights. For those of you looking for a track application change your fluid to a DOT-5 (or better) which had a boiling point of 500 F and won't go soft on you after a few laps.

Brembo brake kits are definately a street application but peform descent on the track aswell from what I've seen. In comparison the closest it gets for a Mustang GT is the Trak-Pak 6 piston brake system for a true track set up. I've yet to put them to a destruction test of my own but I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Bottom line, heat tolerance and disipation is the true performance goal of any brake system. If your brakes can't take the heat... they brake!
