Cam Noise or Something Wrong? Please Help!
LOL yeah.
Now I am still pondering what you guys are saying on here.
I do want the clutch to be very street friendly.
But I do want room for the future.
I just have to make up my mind by tom which one I will send back. I feel like a freakin three year old that can't make up his mind about a toy or something.
I haven't talked with anyone on here that has a 2+ But
since you Diabolical have a 2 and you are whippled, I don't see how a 2+ wouldn't leave me with plenty to grow.
I mean **** if I had even 500 ft lb of torque I would be looking
at an engine that had over 500RWHP.
I know myself that I am not going to go that high because that would man I'd be beefing up my internals for safety and that would take this car out of being a daily driver. With a 2+.. I'd still be fine on that clutch with even that much power (theoretically since it says its good for 669)
The reason I went with the 3 at first was a couple of people here saying they were hearing people having problems with the 2's and 2+'s.
That is what still worries me and makes it so that I have not completely made up my mind. But come tomorrow my mind has to be made up.

K.
I talked to SPEC, AM, and Brenspeed.
I actually told them my future plans for the car.
Possible F.I. but not strong F.I.
With top power at 450rwhp and 420 trq or a bit less even.
That would be in a year or so and that would be with very good luck.
Odds are this car will not see F.I. to be honest.
From what they told me, even with F.I. I would be fine with a SPEC 2 +.
They asked me how much I tracked the car and I told them the honest truth. NEVER.
They all seemed to think I COULD go with the SPEC 3 but that they thought it would be an overkill and that I would expect to hear some clutch chatter in 1st and reverse with it... and that it
would not be very fun to drive everyday in traffic.
I was told the SPEC 2+ was good for 669ft lb torq and that with my aspirations for the car, it would be PLENTY.
I was also told even the SPEC 2+ feels a bit different from the stock clutch, but feels MUCH better for daily driving.
So I actually ordered the 2+ from AM.
So both of them will be at my house tomorrow lol.
AM told me I could just send the one I did not want to use back
as long as I did not open it and they would refund my credit bill.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that alot of the info that you got came from Brenspeed. Basicaly your argument sounds like a canned response from Dave over there. He really seems to not like the Spec 3 and they dont sell it... There not going to talk great about a produt they dont sell anyway. The 2+ is dam near the same thing as a Spec 3, exept they have a filler material between the pucks. Also, the 2+ was the ones people see to have the most issues with.
The "more streetable" argument is straight out of the Spec sales pitch for there "+" series.
All that said, I dont think either is really a bad choice, its more like do you order a big mac, or a double cheeseburger and ask for them to add big mac sauce.....
When I talked to Brenspeed it was Chandler I spoke to.
Your right they don't sell the 3 but they do sell the 3+
When I spoke with SPEC I have NO IDEA who I spoke to haha.
They said that either would be O.K. but that the 2+ was more street friendly, especially for a daily.
He said that if it was HIM, and I did not mind paying the extra couple of dollars, he would go with the 2+
I asked them if they had heard of any issues with it... and of course they said no... because after all they are the company
that sells it.
That being said... I do have a driveway and a garage that I have to be very careful with when pulling into.
I have about an inch of room on both sides to fit the car in and it is a very small garage.
Being easy on the gas and clutch is kind of a must when pulling in and out of the garage.
When I talked to the guy at my dealership he said it was more of a personal preference choice. He had'nt heard of any issues with the 2+ but he also said he had experience with the 3 and that it was like you said... an off or on clutch but that it just took some getting used to.
I am just still confused as to the right choice.
I don't want to get something that everyone is having troubles with.
But I don't wanna get something also that I will not enjoy driving my car with day in and day out.

WHAT THE ****?
I just got a call from the dealership service dept.
They said after getting the tranny all undone that I had
MORE problems and that some teeth were messed up on other parts of the tranny.
THE MOTHER F-ERS are saying I need to rebuild my tranny or have me buy a new one!
I have NEVER tracked this car and I have probably only missed gears in it 3 times in the past 5 years I have owned it.
I have raced the car a total of about 4 times in 5 years.
All other times I have been easy on the car in everyday driving.
The car felt fine driving it. The person that noticed the KNOCK was the guy at the dealership.
As I said when I started this thread... I thought it was normal.
The car was driving just fine. I had the knock and I had the vibration in the dash.
I have no clue what the hell has happened here.
I am going to talk to the service department now.
THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT A 3800 DOLLAR BILL.
THIS IS AFTER I SPENT MONEY FOR A NEW CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL.
I SIMPLY CANNOT EXPRESS HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW.
I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THIS IS EVEN REMOTELY POSSIBLE.

ugh, when you said they found shavings and I said just buy a new tranny from new takeoff.... When I was saying 650 before, thats what a stock tranny goes for if you buy it from anywhere but Ford. Although on newtakeoff.com right now, there out of transmissions it looks like. So unless someone has a similar site, you might have to just buy one from Ford.
I know aftermarket transmissions that are pretty good, but there more costly also.
Something like this:
http://www.blowbyracing.com/bbr20mugttrt.html
Like I said though, costly.
Man.... I really wish I can offer your better advice here man. It really seems like your trying to do everything right and it sucks to here something like this happen to someone who seems to be taking care of there car. If I can think of anything that can help, I'll let you know ASAP.

Scroll to the bottom, and they have built 3650s for much cheaper than the bbr tranny. I've never used them, but it seems like they've posted a couple of times on this forum and have a 2 year warranty on 6500 rpm shifts lol.

Well. I am not going aftermarket if I have to do this.
But I mean with my Hp trq I should be fine with a stock one right?
How much are our stock ones built to handle anyways?
I still have questions though.
Is getting a new tranny kind of like a new engine where problems can be common and the car will never be like it was?
Are there issues that are common that arise?
Or is it just it is new and all is good period?
I wont do the rebuild. I want it to be new so all the parts are warrantied.
What about break in?
Is there a break in period and if so how long?
How do I need to be on the car during this period?
I don't have the cash to trade the car in and make double the monthly payments... that's for sure.
Plus I love my car.
I just have no clue how this could have happened.
Again thanks for all the help.
