Those are cool numbers.
Especially for that kind of displacement.
Right on!

And yes, all of this for under $40K!

I wouldn't doubt those kits putting out some great numbers. The Eaton 2300s are great blowers. Upgrading to them in the (LONG) future.

515whp... YES! Considering most M80 kits with the 4.6 were getting a little over 400whp, I'd say this is awesome progress ;P

I'm actually slightly disappointed in those numbers. A lot of 4.6L kits are putting down 500rwhp without any changes to the block. Hopefully this is just as far as people are willing to stress these potentially expensive motors at this time.

I think you guys missed an important area of information. This is NOT super impressive, and the title is confusing the actual results.

This engine produced 515 RWHP, they then divided by .85 to estimate crank HP. Look at the low TQ results. This suggests to me the engine is starving for air and more mods are required to reduce air intake restrictions.

So, you would pay 6,000 plus install and tuning for ~100-120 HP. Told you guys, the 11:1 compression ratio would make it not as drastic of gain versus the 3V. Until you change the heads with larger combustion chambers or pistons with larger dishes you are not going to see better results.

remember this kit is @ only 7 psi
whereas the earlier years S197 would take 10-12 psi and still not see this kind of gain
these are great numbers

Dont mean to rain on the parade, but I read in this article about the new 5.0 that they (Ford engineers) were saying that the new engines weakest link was the con rods.

5.0 Coyote Feature Article

On page 6 about halfway down:

"Most ominously, supercharging will require a stronger forged rod, so we expect to see those, and, no doubt, a short-block in the FRPP catalog before long. This adds a whole new layer of commitment to bolting a blower on a Coyote. We'll have to let the brave among us prove the standard Coyote rods' boost tolerance. For those planning on a rod-exchanging teardown right away, Ford says the Cobra's Manley forged rod will just fit, but you must be careful. No word on how to package a forged piston and rod combination."

No doubt blowers on 2011 5.0s will make stupid amounts of power, but for how long. Just figured SOMEONE had to play devil's advocate here!

The Engineer's statement this was based on was referring to the production application of the Falcon GTHO (5.0L Supercharged). They didnt use the standard rods on the 4.6l either (2003-2004 Cobra).

The FRPP Whipple KIt is limited to 600 bhp and 7 psi as well.

The torque is a result of low boost and low timing due to 11.0 compression.

600 bhp 5.0L vs 550 bhp 4.6L is going to require about the same cylinder pressure. Thats likely the limit of stock rods and fuel.
