Default Need ideas

I recently purchased a black 2005 Mustang GT as a reward to myself for graduating college and now I want to start modifying it. I'm looking at either getting new wheels first or a cai. Which should I do first? Any other suggestions?

If you have the budget for it, I would do the CAI and a tuner, then wheels and tires. Sequential turn signals are a nice inexpensive mod, possibly also consider axle back exhaust and springs.

Not really a stripe guy as such, but the Black Mustangs DO scream out for flat Black striping IMHO. It's like subtle but striking.....if you can dig that LOL

I prefer a sweet exhaust system for the first mod. All I have ever used is flowmaster on the 4 mustangs I have owned. Nothing like the sound. As for the option you gave I would choose CAI with a tune.

i'm leaning towards a cai and tune. i really want to change wheels, but they cost a little more than what i want to spend right now. plus my car is a daily driver that sits outside. winters aren't too bad in tn, but they salt the roads a week in advance of snow being forecasted. so with winter comin up i may just get the cai and save up and get wheels in the spring.

what are some other good low cost mods? a buddy of mine said to switch to 3.73 gears. i don't know much about gears, so what do y'all think? the car is an auto.

First of all, congratulations on your graduation and bettering yourself.

Secondly, here the my list for you to follow...no varying. Lol
1. cai/intake/Bama or Brenspeed tunes
2. Borla stinger exhausts
3. 3.73 gears (FRPP, not Motives)
4. Koni struts/shocks and Steeda lowering springs
5. FRPP hot rod cams
6. Wheels of your choice
7. CDC aggressive chin spoiler

Then let me know when you are done.

CAI and tune first. That will be the most major change you can feel. Especially in the auto. It removes throttle lag and say goodbye to the slushbox stock tune. Brenspeed is win. I am satisfied with their tunes. Just be careful when you load the tune, you don't want to end up on the curb or the car in front due to the throttle response LOL. I personally had to re-learn how to drive my auto with the tune.

As for gears.. skip 3.73 and go 4.10's. I love my 4.10's and never regretted it. You might need larger tires to help keeping you from spinning..

I went with:

1. CAI and tune
2. Body kit (#2 not really by choice)
3. Wheels and tires
4. 4.10 gear
5. SLP loudmouths
6. Roush Wing
7. Roush Louvers

With an auto definatly get the brenspeed tune cai combo. Imagine your auto trans chirping second and third gear! Yeah baby that's what you get. 4.10 gears ftw.
