make the daughter drive the truck, and give it up when you need it. Beggars can't be choosers

Seriously, you could find a late 90s pickup maybe even 2000s level pickup for a reasonable price. Your daughter can learn to drive a pickup, and now your third car is something she can use and you can trade your wife's car in on something new for her.

This may be a dumb idea but why do you have a friend or relative that may lend/drive thier truck for you

I was in the same boat, I just finished some major remodeling on my house. Renting a home depot truck starting adding up real quick, so what I ended up doing is ordering all the stone, tile, and other large items on thier web site, and paid for the shipping. After I added all the hours of loading the truck, unloading it and paying home deport for the thing...I could have just sit back and wait for the delivery truck.

Just my two cents, but I was dealing with some major hauling, hard wood, tile, concrete, stone, etc.

Buy a used truck. I wouldn't even consider selling mine.

Just insuring my kid is going to cost Big Time. Even with just a rider to add her to the 1 car, it's going to be like another $2000 a-year!
If your child is responsible enough to drive than she should be paying her own insurance. Your already giving her the car. JMO

Agreed. Being given a car is quite a luxury.

if someone had given me a car when I was in HS... wow... I don't even know what I would have done... to go from working so my family could eat for another week to having a CAR.... no idea what I would have done for such a luxury...
