I just walk in with a usaa quote when I buy. It doesn't get any cheaper than that. Coupled with a $750 coupon on top of that and I might just could leave out of there out the door for under $30k for a v6 premium vert like I did when I bought mine a year ago. I'm sick of the steering wheel shake of my car to be honest with you and will be doing a whole lot better due dilligence on a test drive if/when I get a new one to replace this car. It just pisses me off that it's come to this in the first place because Ford says nothing is wrong with mine...

i bet that 750 is only off sticker. so you are saving.... 750. but if you haggle them down a few thousand that thing is prob void. meaning you cant use if on top of any other savings. who knows, theres always a catch.

Hard to say. If it's an incentive then it should be good regardless of what your quote from the dealer is since Ford itself will be the one paying the dealer for the face value of the coupon. Anyone who has one of these coupons can you please elaborate on any 'catches' re: its use?

I view it as a way to get you into the dealership, nothing more. You don't need a coupon to get the price you want...in fact it may work against you, as others have mentioned.

Well like I said my plan was to use it as a bolster to the usaa price. They match the usaa price and then I spring the coupon on them. If they don't honor it then they explain why and if the coupon doesn't have any stipulations on it then I decide how I will proceed against them for not honoring it. Very rarely will anyone ever get a better deal than with the usaa price matching program.

People dont understand, its like a rebate.

The dealership has already paid for the car, a rebate or cupon comes off what Ford is making in profit not the dealer.

So say the car is on the lot for 30k. The dealer paid 25k. Ford paid 20k to make it. There is a 2k rebate, a $750 cupon, and you talk the dealer down by 2k. sound like a lot off right? but look at this, the 2k rebate and 750 cupon are from Ford so

Ford made out liks this
25k (paid by dealer) -2,750 (cupons rebate) -20k (cost to make) = 2250 profit.

The dealer made out like this.
30K asking price -2k you haggled -25k they paid = 3,000 prof

everyone still made money, you walked away with a 30k car for 25250

Now the dealer will try to tell you, we cant go lower, we already gave you cupons and rebates, but that is a FACTORY cupon and FACTORY rebate, that dont come out of the dealers pocket in the end.

Exactly.

I don't understand why people don't ever seem to understand how the whole rebates and incentives thing works.

Factory rebates and coupons are all picked up by FoMoCo
Haggling with your dealer is all about the dealer trying to make the best profit margin.

yep, and if you get a Xplan price or anything like that, you want to grab every freaking rebate and cupon you possibly can, you will walk out for well under invoice and everyone will still make money.
