Yes, that is exactly what I'm talking about!

High rpm slip probably hurts it more than anything else. High rpm dumps are going to hurt just maybe not as bad.

It will definitely be harder on it with drag radials or slicks since you have to rev up higher to not bog. And you want to slip out as fast as you can to get out of the hole and take advantage of that traction. So in that situation you have high rpm with slip.

Be nice to your clutch off the race track and it will last longer.

Ok so no burnout needed, keep the rpm's around 1500 for the launch should = no broken clutch. Sounds good to me. I appreciate everyones help.

Buy yourself some manhatton scented engine oil additive, lol I love people's reactions when they smell grape, and fruit punch instead of exhaust fumes

Lots of high rpm slip burns out clutches because slip under power with the clutch partially engaged = LOTS of heat going into the clutch disc (with no easy way out).

Lots of high rpm dumps breaks other things from flywheel momentum and impact effects at one end of the drivetrain and big grip at the other.

I think what you're looking for is just enough slip to not stall or bog, and not so close to a 'dump' with too many rpms that you just sit there and spin.

If I were you, I'd plan on "wasting" the first couple of runs just to shut the first-time stomach butterflies up.

Good luck. And Rule #1 = have fun.

1500rpm = guaranteed bog unless you slip the crap out of it

Rev up higher. You'll never get off the line quick @ 1500rpm.

OMG ! that just happened to me 6-18-2010 test and tune ,
I pulled past the burn out box , when I see what looks like a red neck s-10 race truck !
you know latter bars slicks , big cowl hood and primer , so im thinking no prob. he'll blow by me and i can just try different launch rpms
well I cut a good light .055 so I thought , ok ill see him at the 60' ....no truck
well 1/8 goes by ....no truck , surely he must b coming , I hear him at the 1000 ft mark
but he never caught me till I slowed down just pass the 1/4
ha ha ha when he does pass me , I see what looks like a tripod ! trucks axle is just coming out , with wheel attached , so im on the brakes , truck goes by sparks flying !
and the tire and axle is bouncing by me at , I guess somewhere about 60mph at this point . when the tire and axle crosses in front of me , hit the rail and reverses direction . it s now coming at me !!! OH NOOOO , I put it in reverse and backed the hell up so i didn't get hit ! It was crazy !!!
