custom tune - 87 vs. 93 comparison
#11
I actually may be able to help a bit here.
I went to a dyno with my 93 "race" tune, and it made 272. This was, however, the same as stock because it had the 87-89 timing table.
I went back, with a revised tune, actually using the 93 octane, and i got 285.
I also removed the cats in between, so take it for what its worth.
So as far as the dyno is concerned, there isnt a huge difference. However, the throttle response of the race tune is amazing, and its all i'll ever use.

^ Those results aren't 100% common.
I have dyno results showing closer to 16-17RWHP without any mechanical changes.

OP - FWIW, make sure you're 100% sure about loading in that premium tune. You'll probably never go back to 87/89 again, LOL!

16rwhp, thats what I'm talking about!
I loved the race tune. It made me sad when i had to switch to do my state inspection.
Side note: Chris, I'm sure the updated tune is awesome, but my SCT pooped the bed when i went to load the tune after i threw on the intake. So now i need to wait 5-10 days + $65 :-(, haha!
OP: Run the race in the highest octane you can!

I just loaded the Brenspeed 93 race tune few days ago....definetly qicker throttle response and power....I m going to load the 93 street tune today....the 93 race tune just seems to touchy...sometimes the car will hop or jump or something like that when first accelerating....getting on it on the highway definetly awesome....Ill run the 93 street today and let you know in a few days how it is with any differences
