I was quoted $600 for frpp gears and install, fluid from a local mustang performance shop. So I wouldn't be paying that if you already have the gears.

I know some of u have said that 500 dollar install is a bit steep but thats what i paid for my gear install from brenspeed. I have absolutely no whine and if u do u should get it fixed. Im willing to pay for great service and not to mention they warranty their work for up to a year after install. So there is some comfort in that

I'm sure the OP would be more willing to fork over $500 if JDM was acting like they actually wanted to work on the car.

My local Ford dealer quoted 5 hours for the job to give you an idea. Unfortunately that is more than I am willing to pay because of their high hourly rate.
On the advise of some locals I found a guy who does this sort of work out of his garage that quoted me $150 for the job. Sure I lack recourse if something goes wrong but at $150 its worth the small risk.

I did a short stint in a performance shop, I always had my doubts but my time there really showed me that good shops are few and far between.

IMO the price is too high and worse yet the price change and brush offs tell me you should walk.

Cool man! I think JDM was just trying to get you to do that honestly. The $600 quote is totally out of line if you have the parts already. If they don't want your business, better to not give it to them then...

I couldnt agree more! It wasnt that easy to find another reputable shop but I'm glad I did. Hopefully they will do everything great like their other customers and I may use them for my S/C install whenever that comes around.

I've heard a few pieces of good feedback about Real Speed, so hopefully you should be in good hands.
