Oh, and I saw that Terlingua GT at the Shelby Museum. Awesome!

I'll join the I do it because I am in love with muscle cars group and I like
to see what I can create.
That's my group.
Hell, most the buds I know in my town have blowers.
I really don't care what they think about the car.
(but yeah they like it lol)
I like to have fun with the car too.
It is great to go to shows and meet people and hear their stories.
Everyone is different and there are a million stories of how people
got into the love for muscle cars, Mustangs, and modding.
Do I buy SOME things for show? Of course!
Do I want others to like it? Of course!
But whether they do or don't is not my real concern.
I WANT to like what I have done.

I decided with my new Shelby that I would keep it stock until something better came along (maybe the Boss 302) and I could sell it without losing a ton of money on mods that don't increase the value.
I have kept it 99.9% original (had to get the shorty antenna to clear my car cover).
I am always amused at the number of engine mods that are done to these cars when the speed limits are so low, there is so much traffic, and the costs are so high. Putting a blower on my car would cost thousands, yet I would never be able to gain back any of that money by racing, or through shows. That feeling of extra power is fun, but $4,000+ for that is hardly a good deal.
I also will never get why there are so many engine mods done to the Mustang when it clearly needs suspension and braking upgrades (and always has).
Just my thoughts

I pick a vehicle and play with it. My last "toy" was a F-150 FX4 Supercrew. Lifted, Supercharged and I offroaded the **** out of it. Tore off the Skid Plates while playing 4x4 in the mud...pretty much had fun with that truck.
4x4 got old for me, so now I'm back in my 3rd Stang. Like a steamroller, I started out slow, but the mods are gaining speed.
Sure the occasional "nice car man" and wow factor you see on peoples faces when you light 'her up is neat...but I do it mainly because a stock vehicle bores me. I'm sure I'll get bored with this car sometime in the future. And most likely will build another truck. I look at it as a hobby
my car already scares the **** out of me at times...and I'm bolting on another +150 RWHP next month. I might be too afraid to turn the key

Not trying to start any wars or flaming or anything like that, but I've noticed a kind of culture among "car guys" that is contagious.
Try to be honest
How many of you get performance mods even though you are not a performance driver? How may of you like to talk about your car's "specs" but have never, ever been on a track to use that potential? And never will...
How many of you have caved in on peer pressure and upgraded your car even though the only people who care are the other "car guys". You know, when you buy that little styling mod and you can't wait to get home to post a pic on the forum so you can get a few nods of "hey I like it!" Because, you wouldn't want to feel left out now, would you?
Muscle Car ownership is definitely a culture of corruption LOL
We feed off each other and spawn our own obsessions. Which is fine, because we all have our passions and our hobbies... I'm not hating; I'm as guilty as the next guy. I can't wait to do my next mod and tell another car jock about it!!!
I'm Just curious to hear the stories (if anyone can be honest) of the upgrades or mods that later on you realized that you don't need or don't really care, and the "hey that's nice" that you got for a fleeting moment, in hindsight, hardly made it worth the expense...
We car nuts can be a pretty odd crowd, that's for sure. Now, let's be honest, and share some stories where we overextended out budgets just to feel like we were fitting in... Haha
I know, I know... sacrilege on a mod forum. O.O

The biggest example I see of this is people who go out and buy these multi thousand dollar brake upgrades. I'm not talking about people who autocross, or actualy run there car hard on a street track as a amature racer. Theres a lot that buy these huge kits just to get a flashy Brembro icon behind there wheel and never drive harder then what the stock brakes can handle (or maybe stock brakes with pads, steel crossovers and fluid.) I drive my stock brakes on the street pretty hard sometimes and they do just fine... lol
